Another Hand Painted Kitchen Burscough Lancashire
In this article I go through the process of another hand painted kitchen Burscough Lancashire. Philip and Jeanette contacted me me via my website as a most people do. They were interested in having their pine kitchen updated with a painted finish. So they sent photos through so I could price it up.
Having priced it up I was asked to pay a visit to show a sample of the finish, also to show how durable it is. We discussed the colours as well as changing the handles which as important as doing the job correctly. With my price accepted I was able to give them a date and booked it in the diary which gave them enough time to sort changing the worktops and a few other jobs.
On to the Job
The works would take 7 days so the first couple of days were the protecting the floor, worktops. Cleaning down, sanding and filling as well as caulking plus all the other prep associated with kitchen painting. Once all this was done and only then can we start painting. As this kitchen was a pine one we had to use a shellac based primer, this stops any knots ruining the waterborne painted finish.
The knots were pre primed first followed by an overall coat of Isofix which provides a good solid base coat for the top coats. With the kitchen now primed we gave it light sand before tacking down. Then we apply the first of the top coats which in this case was Tikkurila furniture paint. A very hard wearing waterborne enamel. The kitchen receives two coats of top coat giving it a lovely semi matt finish and one that is really tough.
The new handles were fitted and they added yet another compliment to an already nice looking kitchen.This was another lovely refurbishment and one that saved Philip & Jeanette the hassle of replacing their kitchen with a new one.
