There are several tried and tested primers to ensure a strong bond over the original timber finish. Isofix is great for its tenacious bond. We have a trick or two as well for using this shellac-based and very sticky primer just give it a good shake and stir.

Oil based eggshell finish on kitchen cabinets

The finish was achieved with Dulux oil-based eggshell. It can sometimes take longer to dry than what is normally used. (since 2010 the legislation formulations have changed)
