Sale Painted Kitchen: Sage & Dream – A Beautiful Transformation by JS Decor

If you’re wondering what a truly transformative kitchen makeover looks like, let me tell you about our recent project, a Sale Painted Kitchen: Sage & Dream that we just wrapped up in Sale, Greater Manchester. We took a Christchurch kitchen, a lovely space to begin with, and turned it into something truly special using Little Greene’s Sage Green and Julie’s Dream. Honestly, even though the image of the “Julie’s Dream LG & Sage Green LG Kitchen” gives you a visual, it doesn’t quite capture the feeling of walking into that room. There’s a certain calm and elegance that photos just can’t convey.

The client found us through an online search, which is always a bit of a thrill. They were looking for someone who could not only deliver a flawless hand-painted kitchen but also understand their vision. They wanted something personal, something that reflected their style. When they saw our portfolio, and we had a good chat, we knew we were on the same wavelength. It was clear we were going to create something beautiful together.

Now, let’s be real, this wasn’t just a quick refresh. This was a handmade kitchen, a blend of MDF and tulip wood, and that requires a very specific approach. Each material has its own quirks, its own needs. We started with two coats of Otex oil adhesion primer. You might think, “Primer? Really?” But trust me, it’s non-negotiable. It seals the wood, creates a perfect base, and ensures the topcoats adhere properly. This step is the foundation of a lasting, high-quality finish.

Painting MDF and tulip wood isn’t like painting a wall. MDF, especially, is porous and can soak up paint like a sponge, leading to uneven finishes and potential warping if not properly sealed. Tulip wood, while denser, also needs a good primer to ensure the paint adheres smoothly. We carefully applied the Otex, making sure every nook and cranny was covered. It’s a time-consuming process, but it’s the key to a professional outcome.

Then came the colour! Three coats of Tikkurila Helmi 10. That paint is a dream to work with. The matt finish is so smooth, so luxurious. And those colours? The Sage Green for the island was a stroke of genius. It grounded the space, brought in a touch of nature. And the Julie’s Dream for the surrounding cabinets? It was like opening up the room, making it feel so much brighter and airier.

We didn’t just focus on the paint, though. A kitchen is more than just colour. The client had chosen some stunning new hardware from Slingers Ironmongers in Preston. Those handles and knobs? They added a touch of elegance that really elevated the whole design. And because we believe in going the extra mile, we meticulously oiled the inside of the cabinets. It’s those small details, those extra steps, that make a real difference, both in terms of longevity and overall finish.

Seeing the finished Sale Painted Kitchen: Sage & Dream was a real highlight. It felt like a completely new space, so stylish and welcoming. It’s that feeling, that sense of transformation, that makes what we do so rewarding. To see a client’s face light up when they see their dream kitchen come to life?

That’s why we do this. If you’re thinking about giving your kitchen a makeover, take a look at the images. It might just spark some ideas.
