Initially we were asked to take a look at a Pine dresser, as well as their Pine kitchen table and Beech chairs. The dresser was a rather large piece of furniture that looked orange having aged over the years. The table was family worn but very much loved, sadly their cat loved it as well and used the table legs to dig its claws in.

The home owners wanted it be painted to brighten  it up. They had re decorated the room, re tiled the kitchen floor. Not only that the kitchen worktops had been changed for granite. All to try and improve the look more.

I suggested that the table top could be sanded back, re lacquered like it was brand new. The legs and chairs be painted to take away the orange look. The dresser could be given a similar makeover. Pat Looked through our portfolio and found some inspiration. We discussed the kitchen units too and how changing the colour would change the kitchen for the better. Having priced up the furniture and now the kitchen I left them to mull it all over.

A couple of days later we asked to undertake the work. Its fabulous when you know your going to change such a lot of furniture in one home. The finished look is one of amazement when its all completed. I needed to sort all the colours and discuss how we would go about it all with the minimum of fuss and mess. The whole job take around 15 days to complete, some days on site but a lot could be done in the workshop. The chosen colours were F&B Elephants Breath for the kitchen units, Dove tail for the dresser ,table and chairs.

The kitchen was tackled first. Removing the doors and drawers and bringing them back to the workshop. Whilst one of us works on the doors, two of us start the frame. All the worktops are protected as the floors with paper so there is no trip hazards. Not only that it makes for a cleaner working environment. We start the cleaning process on the frame and the doors using the same high strength de greasers rinsing with clean water as we go. Once this task is completed it’s all left to dry. A little more prep is needed then its a case of priming, then over the course of the next few days subsequent coats are applied to a finish. kitchen cabinet painter whittingham preston lancashire

The dresser is given the same treatment except for the worktop. This is sanded to reveal the clean white pine it used to be, then lacquered. The table is also started the same way, cleaning and sanding to create a super fine finish.
