Mawdesley kitchen transformation

The recent Mawdesley kitchen transformation we completed was a deeply rewarding project, breathing new life into a classic Charles Sotherby kitchen. In the heart of Mawdesley, Lancashire, this once-tired space was meticulously rejuvenated by our team at JS Decor Kitchen & Furniture Painters. Charles Sotherby kitchens, renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship but sadly no longer in production, hold a special place in the history of British kitchen design.

This project was an opportunity to honour that legacy, restoring its former glory while introducing a contemporary feel.

This Mawdesley kitchen transformation wasn’t merely a cosmetic update; it was a comprehensive restoration. We began with the essential groundwork: thorough cleaning, degreasing, and sanding. This meticulous preparation ensured a pristine surface, optimal for paint adhesion and a long-lasting, flawless finish. Every detail, from the intricate mouldings to the smooth cabinet doors, was carefully addressed.

Our clients, with their discerning taste, selected a sophisticated palette from Farrow & Ball. For the main cabinetry, they chose Ammonite, a soft, versatile grey that brought a sense of airy elegance to the space. This neutral tone reflected natural light, making the kitchen feel brighter and more spacious.
The central island, the kitchen’s focal point, underwent a dramatic transformation with Mole’s Breath, a deeper, more impactful grey. This contrast created a striking visual anchor, adding depth and dimension to the room. The interplay between Ammonite and Mole’s Breath created a harmonious balance, showcasing the kitchen’s architectural details.

The hand-painting process, a testament to our expertise, was carried out with precision and care. Each brushstroke was applied to create a smooth, even finish. We used high-quality, specialist kitchen paints, renowned for their durability and resistance to everyday wear and tear. Multiple coats were applied, allowing for proper drying time between each layer, to achieve the desired depth of colour and a flawless finish.

The results of this Mawdesley kitchen transformation were truly remarkable. The once-dated kitchen was now a picture of refined elegance. The Ammonite cabinetry exuded a sense of calm sophistication, while the Mole’s Breath island commanded attention, creating a captivating focal point. The hand-painted finish revealed the inherent beauty of the Charles Sotherby design, highlighting its timeless appeal.

Our clients were overjoyed with the outcome. This Mawdesley kitchen transformation had revitalised their home, creating a beautiful and functional space for family and friends to gather. At JS Decor Kitchen & Furniture Painters, we are passionate about transforming kitchens, breathing new life into cherished spaces. This project stands as a testament to our commitment to quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.
